John Ferguson heard/ read the quote and released him.Tom Clarkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07432652123085645748noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28364327.post-54526131410703826142015-03-04T08:09:35.806-08:002015-03-04T08:09:35.806-08:00I watched on WOR-TV Channel 9 a Rangers game in 19...I watched on WOR-TV Channel 9 a Rangers game in 1976 where Gratton had one of his particularly bad nights and John Ferguson pulled him in the middle of the period. The camera zoomed in on the bench as a super heated Ferguson read Gratton the riot act for his poor play. Ferguson turned and walked away from Gratton and instantaneously Gratton made a face mocking Ferguson behind his back. It was clear as day and I remember broadcaster Jim Gordon saying "I hope John Ferguson doesn't see that tape". I agree he might be the worst goalie the Rangers have had in my 56 years as a fan with honorable mention to Dunc Wilson, Dave Tataryn, Hardy Astrom, Peter McDuffee and Curt Ridley.John93059https://www.blogger.com/profile/17455407076281402224noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28364327.post-30243438487651843612015-02-19T17:34:01.944-08:002015-02-19T17:34:01.944-08:00I can remember as a kid listening to a Rangers-Isl...I can remember as a kid listening to a Rangers-Islanders game during the 1976-77 season on the radio and although I am a Rangers fan, the game was only broadcast on the Islanders station, so I had to hear John Sterling call the game. Gratton played well that night and I can still hear Sterling proclamation: "You must take your hat off to the play of Gilles Gratton in the Ranger goal".Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28364327.post-44655645395641912002013-07-01T11:23:24.112-07:002013-07-01T11:23:24.112-07:00Maybe the WORST goalie to ever put on a mask for t...Maybe the WORST goalie to ever put on a mask for the Rangers, or anyone else! Before the puck was dropped Gratton started roaring like a lion(wearing the lion mask). The Ranger players started laughing, lost the face off and the other team immediately scored.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12664973275015354365noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28364327.post-26287330085160653042010-11-17T10:31:33.357-08:002010-11-17T10:31:33.357-08:00There's a mural of this guy at the San Diego I...There's a mural of this guy at the San Diego Ice Arena. you can see it here: www.jasonluper.com/sdia.html

I thought it was pretty cool.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
